635 words. Feeling good today.

I've left the entire neighborhood outside my hero's house. Discovered one of my heroine's neighbors is a cop who wears his badge clipped onto his pajamas. Fun times.

Life happened last night and I only got a couple hundred words in, but I did figure out how to do an important scene at the end of the book that I had been a little worried about.

Today, I managed to clock in about 637 words in total. Woot! So far, since I started I have 3, 617 words in total!

Just finished 1,486 words and closed chapter 18. I am up to  311 double spaced, Courier New, 12pt font pages and 72, 225 words. Wow, I feel and overwhelming sense of accomplishment. I was stuck and chapter 16 before I joined this effort, thanks for the help.

608 today, which is a little less than I've been averaging. I wasn't sure I'd get to it at all because I had a to-do list a mile long, but it kept me from procrastinating.

I  only managed 210 yesterday, but I made up for it today with 502, which was nice. It's amazing how many words you can get when you give the pet a ridiculous name.

Day 1: 583
Day 2: 11,301
Day 3: 3,428

Today, I'm already over 700 words, and have no idea when I'll stop writing tonight. :3

393 words today. Had to push myself, but I did get out one sentence that I really liked. I wanted to try and write a short, flash fiction piece for my collection since I've never really written that before, and with today's words I think I have that? Still not sure if I should keep it as is or if it needs to be expanded.

Wrote, but under 500. Will make up for it tomorrow. My goal is to write at least 500/day.

508 (I think).  Interesting day. Still feels pretty good.

But I gotta say, Rebecca, you're busting the curve for all of us sluggards.

983 this morning. All characterization. I realized that I needed to start organizing what readers know and what I know about each character and the setting. It might mean that I'm going slower because I didn't write any words in the book, but I think I did some important groundwork. It's my intention to update my characterization doc on a weekly basis.

It's funny, though, after all of this character work I want to write more. Perhaps there will be another check-in today.

Wanted to say how impressed I am with everyone's progress. This group is really inspiring.

485 today, fictionalizing a personal story I wrote a couple years ago, using it as a pivotal scene in my book.

Knocked out 712 words today. The progression of my chapter is looking up after breaking through a brief dam between transitioning a scene (which is always difficult for me), but I think it proved to be worthwhile in the end.

Atthys,

Heheheh, I try! Better yet, a notable chunk of those words are being done with an old-fashioned pen and paper combo. :3

I will not go quietly into the night!

I'm kinda hoping someone will see my progress and decide I need knocked down a peg or three and come after me for all they have. :3

It's going to take me a month to write 11,000 words.  And by then, you will have written how much?

No, I won't compete.  You young folks can slug it out.  I'll just keep inching my way along.  Fact is, I'm enjoying writing more than I have for quite some time, so I'm not going to question or change.   Rebecca, you have my blessings.  Go with Ganesh and all the other deities of scribbling.

ACK! Missed two days in a row due to traveling and house buying/mortgage applying throwing me off my routine.

But I've got 821 so far today, so that's pretty close to making up one of those days. Or I could say my goal was 250 for three days and then I beat it.
Heh. Yeah, that's my story.

Lily.  I remember the last time I had to apply for a mortgage.  I was in shock for days.  I'm surprised you can write at all.

250 words with morning coffee. Writing a spooky short story. Trying to use the inspiration of  mournful bluegrass music to explore grief and ghosts. Posted the first few words in the excerpt discussion.

Now off to make breakfast for the kids. Hope to write more this afternoon!

Happy Writing, everyone!!!

I think I wrote 400 or so today. It's possible I've figured out to get the kid to sleep for a few hours at a time--turn everything off!

I'll post my first graf on the other thread. It's about abuse and revenge and Tae Kwon Do.

857.  Some of which, I know, will be whittled from the next draft, but that is a tale for another day.  Good week so far.  If I hit 700 tomorrow that'll be a 5000 word week.

Good work everybody.

Technically it's after midnight here, but I'm counting all of my words anyway.

1500 words the past four days, which puts me right at 50000 total.  By NaNo standards I have a novel now.

964 words this afternoon! I was planning around 700, but I got carried away with the scene, and finished my chapter. Before I knew it, I was 964 words in! So far, I have 5, 347 words since I started. That's pretty amazing.

I fell a bit behind. Missed Friday, and only wrote 144 words yesterday. I got back on track with the 290 I wrote today, although I'm not really sure where I'm going with it. I'm hoping to figure that out tomorrow and after.

A bit better than Saturday, but I still fell behind.

Day 7: 229 words

Total words for Week 1: 1886.

Not bad.

My goal is 500 words/day and I did 1497 yesterday. I started late and I need to get in NaNo-mode and see where I need to be. I'm a little word-count OCD so I can do this. Heading off to a family thing with hubby's sisters. They drive me up the wall so I'm going to plead migraine, hide in a corner, make a spreadsheet, and get my Summer Writer's club act together. I wonder if I'm ahead or behind.

Well being new to the group and definetly late to the party, I have to ask, does the count work? If I tried to count 500 words I would go crazy trying to get them all. I do admire all of you for having the will to power through.

The tale I am destined to tell, or die trying, has been years in the making. Many of them not in writing but pretending to think. More often than not, I will completely toss a chapter, or 3, and start again. I have about 8-9 solid chapters that need a small tweak and a great editor. ( I have the editor, but as she is friends of the family, I am terrified of the criticism) So I reread, and out the chapter goes.

I am willing to join, but have to wonder something....do I get a shock collar so I can be kept on task? Or honestly, does just checking in help all of you?

If nothing else, I am sure that I may find a writer or 2 that I can admire and be envious of. Feel free to give me a solid boot to the.... to keep me involved. The biggest problem I face is the story flowing faster than my 2 fingers can type. Then I get lost and all things go to the dogs and I can only regret.

And for the record, do these words count, or the extensive bio I wrote? cuz that should at least catch me up?

Alantis.  Speaking personally, I find the count helps.  It's a goal, plain an simple – a reason to try, and a reason to keep trying a little longer if you're not quite there.  It may be a mind game, but so what if it works?   And don't even think about editing and revision.  Butt in the chair.  Words on the page.  You can't decide if it's good until you do that much.

Best of luck.  It's only been a week, but I feel better about what I'm writing than I have in many months.

I was planning on getting 1,000 words out. I didn't think I could do it, but I set my mind to it and I ended up writing, 1,111 words! I'm proud of myself. Haha

Atthys - Thanks, I will take that and see what comes. I can drop a few thousand words a day, but then I get stuck trying to reread to make sure the story is going the way I want.....and then the problems start. But if I don't edit, then someone else will, and while like on a site like this, I may never meet those that read my work, the person who is willing to edit is not just a friend, she is a teacher of lit and english, so what she says keeps me second guessing myself...without her reading a word. I try not to do it......it happens, again and again. Hopefully this challenge will help.
Thanks for the advice
