Wow! I went on vacation and admittedly didn't get as much writing done as I'd like, but I didn't expect to find the site radically changed when I came back. I'm up to 33,069, so that's where I should be on July 24, which means my huge buffer is gone and I need to get my butt in gear again. I knew my productivity was going to be really iffy while on a family vacation, which is why I worked to build that big word count a month ago to begin with.

I also just spent several days editing my second book and finishing all the details for my first to go live on Amazon. Not fun. Should have been, but it wasn't. The idea that I'll do that a few more times this year is daunting.

Re-launching Book Country and maintaining my progress has been tricky, but here I am again. 2,000 today, mostly filling in the bones from previous scenes. It felt great.

Welcome back Tori.  Welcome back Brandi.   Glad to hear you're back in the saddle.

All I've got is this old pack mule.

438 words on Saturday.  I'll let you know about Sunday when I do something.

Me again.  565 words and I'm officially done for the day and the week.   Another 4000 word week (with a big 40 to spare.)

A few personal stats:   We are at the end of week nine.  Sixty-three days.  I have logged 40,500 words during that time - 167 pages.   A nice round 4500 word per week average.  At that pace, I could write 234,000 words in a year.

The current WIP (I've worked on a few other things but I'm only counting this one project in my totals) stands at 998,345 words.  I'm on page 394.  It has easily 20,000 words left to go.  Maybe as much as 30,000.

Alright, then.  I know how badly you all needed to know that.

Keep writing.  Week ten coming up.

Day 63: Wrote 260 words. My poor main character keeps putting herself in dangerous situations.

Alexandria.  Hey, all the how-to writing books say that's good.  Something new and preferably dire, every three or four pages.

Oh yeah.  623 words today.

About 950. I'm writing mostly dialogue by the way. Maybe that is why the words are flowing so easily this summer. Also, it's a first draft so I am allowing it to move along without heavy critique.

Well, Atthys, I guess it's a good thing my main character is surrounded by soldiers.

Day 64: Wrote 343 words.

I've been quiet, but this is because I've been editing a storm on my novel. It's off with the formatting whiz now, so most of the work is done on it.

I actually have time to draft new things again! I'm quite happy about that. Most of my drafting work crashed to a halt as I was bust getting my novel ready for publication.

I may have lost total count of my writing for the summer, but I have far exceeded my base goal so far. I'm really happy about it.

Back to the trenches, although I get to finally work on something for someone else for a change!

Got some good writing in today, which pushed me over 54000 words for this project.  Based on my last post here, that means I'm averaging somewhere under 100 words per day for the past couple of weeks.  But it's better than nothing, and the words are starting to flow again.

I wrote 820 yesterday in an effort to get caught up, then checked my overall word count and discovered I was fine. I wish I wrote daily, it's a better practice.

Tori.  I know what you mean.  Since starting this challenge, I have written every day (for the first time in a long while) and it makes a noticeable difference.

546 words today.  It adds up.

Welp. I utterly dropped this ball. But I did manage to get through three passes of edits on my novel and still have the galley to proof. Here's to NEXT summer. Sigh.

Ah, a weak Saturday.   282 words.   But a decent Sunday ought to get me up to 4000 for the week.  It's been slowish, both because life is tense and complicated, but also because the story is at a difficult part.  I'm getting near the endgame,  and very soon I will be jumping ahead time-wise to get to the final dance.  There's still so much to accomplish, and I'm going to need to spend some time fleshing out an outline of the final 20,000 words.

Anyway, I'll check in later, imaginary boss, with a word-count for the day.

Day 70: Wrote 329 words. I almost made 300+ words every day but fell short on one. My weekly total ended up being 2344 words written. I think I may have the first draft of The Conference House written by the end of Write 53k.

Day 73 (Wednesday): 44 words. Sadly, I suffered a migraine and slept from the time I got home from work until the time I had to wake up for work again.

Day 74 (Thursday): 558 words. But I really made up for it yesterday. happy

Friday was 604.   Today was 615.  If I had the time to spare, I could probably finish this whole book in about three weeks time.  But I'm not complaining.  This has already been a very productive summer.

Ah Sunday.   591 words, making 4204 for the week.   God, how this thing keeps expanding!

Anyway, week eleven is completed and I stand at 48,700 words give or take.  Seeing as how that makes my average output 4427 per week, I could, with an average week, complete the 53,000 word goal next week.  Yeehaw!  Kudos to me.  The book, however, is still at least 15000 words from finished.  I say this as if it is certain.  It's not, but that's my take.  So another month, anyway.

Happy writing, all.

623 to start the new week.  I've been putting off figuring out exactly the path from here to the end of the book.  Now here I am at the foot of that path.  Might be a slow week.

I felt inspired by how you guys have been killing it.

I got up early today: 2848 so far and I may do more when I return home from Book Country.

Yesterday, 1464.

Great start to the week so far. (Still behind everyone else, but I'm working hard on catching up.)
