National Novel Writing Month is two weeks away!
Join thousands of writers--many of whom are on Book Country--as they make their way to the 50k-word mark in November. This thread will be where we can all hang out and talk casually about the writing ahead. Once NaNoWriMo officially launches, there will be other threads where you can log your progress & have in-depth conversation about your process.
For now, let's just exchange contact info. If you are participating in NaNoWriMo this November:
1. Tell us about it & the project you'll be working on!
2. Link us to your NaNoWriMo profile. (This is Book Country's!)
3. Share other details: your Twitter/Facebook profile or the blog where you'll be posting updates about NaNoWriMo.
Happy Writing!

Hi, I'm Isabell and I don't really have a lot on my NaNoWriMo profile yet. But I have signed up to do it this year for the first time. I'm nervous but super excited! I really think I can do this. It will force me to be organized and dedicated. I'm planning to write a YA novel I've had in my head for a few years. It involves unwilling time travel and a government plot. Very different from anything I've written before which will be fun. I have the main character formed in my head, but have to work on the other characters to give them life. I want to wish everyone luck next month on their 50,000 words!

Here is my profile!
I know I've been MIA around here--mostly due to work and grad school. But I'm gearing up for NaNoWriMo. I remembered how great the support was for the Write 53k summer challenge and I hope it helps me get farther in my NaNoWriMo project than I got last year. (Granted, I did start NaNoWriMo a week late and then had my wisdom teeth taken out during the last week).
This year, I'm working on the second book in the series I started last NaNoWriMo (and something I should get up on Book Country). Last year dealt with Gwen, who believed she was the reincarnation of Snow White. This year's novel stars her best friend and roommate Rosalie, who comes to believe she's the reincarnation of Sleeping Beauty.
Looking forward to it!

Hello, fellow WriMos! Old timer here, although I'm new to Book Country. Here's my stats:
My NaNo Project is called "Fragments", a fantasy adventure about a mixed group of prisoners on the run. Can they overcome their historical differences to defeat a common enemy?

Hey guys! I'm doing NaNo, but as a Rebel. I'm actually going to finish my 2009 (winner) NaNo novel, Reaching for the Moon, which is already up here. I'm using NaNo as the drive to finish the damn story, four years later. I may not get to 50k, but if I type "The End," I will count myself a winner. LOL
My NaNo profile name is: selestiele
I'll be posting updates on Facebook and Twitter, but may not be daily.

Hello, all. I'm going to declare myself as in, but I honestly can't imagine writing over 1500 words per day. (500 a day was an effort. But I'm going to give it my best. I wrote 700 words last night (after midnight), beginning a brand new novel I've spent the last two weeks obsessively plotting out, a sort of ghost/doppleganger story I'm calling Whisper Blue. I'm here because I'm hoping this forum will give me some incentive to keep up.
Good luck, everybody. --edited by Atthys Gage on 11/1/2013, 11:03 AM--

Disclaimer: I have no intention of posting the work in progress. I just can't see any good coming from it. Assuming I can really produce at this absurd pace, it'll be far too awful to share. It also may not make it from spiral ring notebook to word processor before December.

Hi I'm Donna,
This will be my third year doing NaNoWriMo. The first year I didn't finish. The second year I did. I'm hoping that I can finish it this year too. Fifty thousand words is quite a bit. This year's novel is a sci-fi one. At least it is starting out that way. It might have some mystery in it as well as elements that lean a tad in the fantasy arena. It is called, "The Ties Unbound". That is probably just a working title, though. Whether I finish or not I plan on having fun and NaNo is always fun. Good luck to those participating this year.

Hello everyone,
This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo. I'm currently writing a Young Adult LGBTQ fiction novel. I went into this having a basic idea of what direction I wanted my novel to take, and I've written 3,207 words so far.

Hi everybody!
I am having SO much fun doing Nano. Here's my profile: http://nanowrimo.org/participants/lucysilag
I took a day off of work today and did nothing but write for Nano. It was awesome!
I'm up to 14,225 words. SO SO glad I signed up to do this. It's such a great feeling to see those words pile up.
How's everyone else feeling? Anybody need a personal cheer squad? I'm your girl, if so!

Impressive, Lucy! I'm only (!) a little over seven thousand, so you've already lapped me. But it's still easily the most words I've ever put on paper (and I mean that literally) in a four day stretch. I don't know if I can sustain the pace with everything else in my life, but I'm feeling pretty good about it so far.
Keep on writing. Don't look back. There'll be time a plenty to edit in December.

Hi Donna and BrittMP!
Sending you both Book Country connection requests now so that I can be in touch to show you around the site over private message.
Welcome, and happy Nano 2013!!
Very glad to have you here. Keep us posted on how it's going--and keep up the good work!
Thanks, @Atthys! We are off to an awesome start--I feel like I am bouncing off the walls from excitement about it!

I am also so glad I signed up for NaNo. I haven't done my words yet today, but since yesterday I have over 9,000. I was hoping to get to 15,000 today, so we'll see if I can get my butt in gear. I don't know if I've ever been so excited about a story I've worked on. The fact that I go back to it every day keeps me in the story and I (like you) also like watching the words piling up. I wish I'd known before that I'd be capable of writing so much in such a short amount of time. This isn't easy, but it's easier than I thought it would be.

Hi everyone! My name is Kimberley and I'm working on a paranormal romance urban fantasy entitled Forever Friends. I'm going rouge this year and I'm writing 68,000 words to an existing novel that had about 30,000 words to it so far. It's been a fun, but slow going novel to write so I'm hoping that doing NaNo will give me the push I need to finish it. Here's my NaNo profile http://nanowrimo.org/participants/isis1lotus. I know I'm feckless and undisciplined but it bums me out hearing about people tossing down six thousand words in a day. I'm working from a thorough outline, spending hours on it each day, and I can barely manage two thousand. NaNoWriMo is not for tortoises, because there's nothing slow (for me) about 1,667 words a day.
Hmmph.

Hi Atthys--I'm impressed by your ability to work from an outline! Every outline I've ever made has lasted about 20 minutes . . .
For me, writing binges are kind of how I think.
Maybe we should have a NaNo offshoot event where we simply log our hours spent working on our books?

Yeah, well, it's not the best organized outline, but it is giving me a scene by scene diagram. I knew that would be vital if I was even to have a prayer at a 50K month. I'm not fast, partly because I do edit in my head as I go, which means a lot of scratching out and writing between the lines even on my first draft. I'm trying not to get bogged down in minutia but its a hard habit to break.
