AMAZON's NEW KDP SELECT PREVENTS YOUR BOOK FROM BEING SOLD BY OTHER RETAILERS 9 Dec 11 KDP Select Option Terms and Conditions. Y'gotta scroll way down to see this: "1 Exclusivity. When you include a Digital Book in KDP Select, you give us the exclusive right to sell and distribute your Digital Book in digital format while your book is in KDP Select. During this period of exclusivity, you cannot sell or distribute, or give anyone else the right to sell or distribute, your Digital Book (or content that is reasonably likely to compete commercially with your Digital Book, diminish its value, or be confused with it), in digital format in any territory where you have rights."

Wow, Amazon sure is putting their fingers into a lot of places. Pushing the publisher around just like they have other markets.
Did you see the article about their request that consumers use their price app in brick and mortar stores today, the 10th, and they'll give the consumer up to $ 15.00 if they purchase that item through Amazon? Their app has gps so Amazon has the consumer giving them price quotes from around the world to compare and adjust if they so desire on their stock. What are they going to do when there are no brick and mortar stores? Oh, set the price wherever they want. Hopefully getting that big is still a difficult and hopefully impossible process.

On the ebook piracy issue. This isn't "happening now". Its been happening for as long, no, actually, longer, then music piracy online. Text files were downloadable over 24.4 modems when music was not. There were lawsuits over books being scanned and distributed online long before napster ever existed.
