623 words for Thursday. Meh. Tough scene. Probably get whittled down significantly in the next draft, but for now, it is over.

Got it done early today: 575 words for Sunday. That makes 4006 for the week and a summer total of 61,269. But one thing is clear. I am not finishing this rough draft by Sept 2nd. It isn't far from finished, but it's farther than that.
Hope you all had good, productive weeks.
Cheers.

559 for a Monday. Kids back in school. Usually a good thing for productivity, but I guess we'll see. So many other things I'm supposed to be doing. Guess I better go do a couple of them.

531 words for Tuesday.
I know what you mean, Alexandria. Whatever else comes of this, I think we all (or at least the half dozen of us who are still clocking in with some regularity) can feel proud. We came, we stayed, we got it done. I know after this rough draft (nearing 500 pages) is done, I'll probably fall into less regular work patterns again, but I don't think I'll ever fall into such a writing lethargy as I was in before this summer began. Hopefully, the habit of sitting down and getting something done every single day, will not fade. Guess that's up to me.

Well said, Atthys! I started this summer with 12, 030 words written for "The Conference House" since March 2012. I am now closing in on 40,000
words and I had set a word limit for this story between 50, 000 and 75, 000. Almost there! I may have this done before the New Year (though I plan
on doing NaNoWriMo again so we'll see how productivity for "The Conference House" survives November).
Anyway, Day 100: Wrote 308 words!

I don't have a high word count to report for the past few days ( about 650 ) but I have been doing a bit of an overhaul of my story/outline. It needed to take up my time at some point. I'm feeling good about moving forward from here now that I have stepped back to survey the big picture.
I can't believe this is coming to an end. I haven't been keeping that in mind. This club has been so motivating and I hope to join another one right away! It keeps me on track....

September 2nd comes so quick...
I'm so proud of everyone on this thread and inspired by all of you.
We'll do a word count check in on Monday. Show of hands, who wants to keep going or just be happy crossing the finish line?

Friday: 591 words
Saturday: 644 words
And tomorrow is the last day of the summer challenge. Woot!

I'm with Neelie. I'll keep checking in. When this rough draft is finished, I'll probably devote more of my time to rewrites, but it would be good for me to have a touchstone for daily new material, even if it's at a reduced rate.

I cleared 56500 words, plus blog posts which are too much trouble to count.
Now a month's rest, then NaNoWriMo!

I am determined to finish over 30k by the end of Monday so I'm doing a lot of writing over the next two days.
And I think i will keep checking in every day. At least until NaNoWriMo.

871 words today, 4339 for the week. I guess tomorrow is actually the last day of the challenge so I'll log in then to post my totals for the summer.
Keep writing, everyone.

Alexandria! Neelie! Tori! Brandi! Ben! Also Gwenyffer, RJ, Timothy, Lily, Steve, Lucy, Jennifer, and Nevena! And anyone else I might have missed! Summer is officially over, and with it the Summer Writer's Club. Time to own up. Was it good for you? Did you write a whole lot? Did you finish your main project and then disappear off the face of the thread (Timothy? Gwenyffer?)?
Alright. I'll go first.
I have been working on a very long historical novel in three parts. When it's done, it will be about 1200 pages. The middle volume is called Then the Moon Trembled. That's what I've been working on (among other things, but I only counted this one novel in my totals.) When summer began, I had less than 60,000 words written and I hadn't worked seriously on the thing for several years. Now, with SWC over, it is over 120,000 and counting. Last night I wrote the words Chapter Last at the top of the page. The story has grown and stretched in all sorts of ways, but I can finally say with confidence that I have reached the ultimate chapter. A week, maybe two, and it should be done.
Numbers: I worked on this project every single day. A few days were less than 200 words. A few over a 1000, but on average I managed to log 625 words per day, and 4,375 per week. The grand total: 65,608 brand new words written this summer, which is well over 250 pages. I know I'm not setting any records, but for me, that is true productivity. I am pleased.
I, for one, intent to keep these good, productive habits alive, at least until this book is finished. Perhaps I'll see some of you around.
Who's next?

Hi everyone. I'm still working. I need 600 more words to reach the 50K mark so I'm going to take a break for dinner and then get back to it!
Glad to check in for a minute and I have to say, "CONGRATULATIONS ATTHYS!" Nice grand total! And I want to thank you also. Your consistency here has really kept me going.

I did it! I made the 50 K mark. I'm elated and exhausted. I wrote so much today to make it and it's still Monday here on the West Coast so here I am to say Thanks to everyone for inspiring me along the way. Words add up! Good night!

Day 106: Wrote 650 words!
So, this is over. It was a grand adventure. I wrote 29,791 words over the summer. I took a stalled project and advanced it further than I would've thought. I'm happy and proud of my work!
As I pat myself on the back, I congratulate everyone else who participated in this. Good job!

Way to go, Neelie. Congratulations.
Also to you, Alexandria. Perseverance is golden.
For the record, I wrote another 540 words or so today, but I'm counting it toward next week's total.
See ya 'round, writers.

You guys are amazing.
My final total was 25,270. That's the most I've ever written on a single piece in the shortest amount of time. I tried something that scared me, and I had a blast. And, like many of you, I'm not finished writing and will continue to chart my progress.
I'm so impressed and inspired by all of you. I wanted to share how proud I was of you with the full Book Country community so I wrote this blog post about your accomplishments. Congratulations, again!

Congratulations Brandi! And thank you so much for creating this group and inspiring us to write, write, write. I loved your blog post. I realized though when reading it that the goal was 53K words. Whoops! In my mind I kept holding the 50K mark as my goal. Either which way, it has been so great to participate and I'm still immersed in my first draft so I'll just keep going. The momentum you have helped create here is undeniable. Thanks again!

I don't know how much longer this will be going but I'll just keep posting my word count since I'm a little over halfway through my first draft and that means there are many more words to write!

So lighten up, already. Jeez.

Hi! I've barely cleared the bar as well at 520 but hey, I could have easily NOT written anything today because it's that time of year when things get busy. The thought of not getting to log in here kept me on task though.

Well, I didn't get a chance to check in right at the end because I was camping and had no internet, but I wanted to post a few thoughts now that I'm back.
If you had told me back in May that come September my first draft would still be just shy of finished I would never have believed you. Then again, I wasn't expecting to spend most of the summer job hunting. So while I may have come up a bit short on my fiction-writing goals, I did a lot of important writing on resumes and such that recently paid off in a new job offer (hence the camping trip). The new job is essentially the same as what I was doing before, pays better, and will let me work from home so I don't have to worry about selling my house. All in all about the best I could have hoped for, so I'm calling this summer a huge success.

Wow, Ben! Awesome. Let me be the first SWC er to offer my congratulations. I know only too well how that kind of uncertainty can interfere with productivity. Glad things worked out so well.
For me, 625 words today. I keep putting it off, but I no longer think I'm going to finish this rough next week. Certainly should be done the week after. If I can keep logging in 500 a day, I have to get there eventually. I look forward to being finished, but I also fear it. There's no uncertainty about the plot, but how it ends up looking on paper, I'm not going to know until I get there.

584 for Sunday. At 3917 words, I believe this is my slowest week of the summer, but I cleared the bar. Definitely dragging in the last mile of the marathon here.
