And the winner is...
James McBride won the National Book Award for fiction
tonight for The Good Lord Bird, about a young slave in the 1850s who meets and
travels with abolitionist John Brown. (Woot! I hope our Riverhead colleagues
are clinking glasses right now! They deserve it. )
The winners in the other categories are:
Nonfiction: George Packer for The Unwinding: An Inner
History of the New America.
Poetry: Mary Szybist for Incarnadine.
Young People's Literature: Cynthia Kadohata for The Thing
About Luck.
Excited for the winners & excited to dive into these
books. Have you guys ready any of them?
