Based on our member's suggestions, we dreamed up a new Book Country feature to help writers get the feedback they need to write their best possible book.

Today we are announcing the Book Country Buddy Program! Check out the details, and feel free to ask questions and leave comments in the thread below.

We hope you will take advantage of this chance to make serious progress with your book!

Lucy, I am not a fan of mainstream, as you probably realize. There may be few who can deal with my approach. JoeTeeVee was one who owned my heart from the first paragraph, I felt a solid kinship with him. But he's flown the coop. Do you think there is a bird of sufficiently odd feathers to pair with me?

.

My footnotes, for instance, are non-negotiable. The wise-ass atheist cat, the whore role-playing Virgin Mary to her priest customer, all that, going nowhere. (funny as hell, in MNVHO*) Maybe I'd better skip it and save the winner of the short end of the crazy stick the aggravation. Any takers out there? Here's your chance. Speak up.

.

* My Not Very Humble Opinion.

We're starting to get a group together and I am excited to pair buddies!

I want to encourage people to keep signing up--as long as you do, I will keep pairing folks.

Is it too late for someone to sign up? I have a few writer friends who are considering it.

Hi DJ--Definitely not too late. In fact, I could use more folks to match with people who've already signed up. Send em over!

Lucy, I would love to sign up for the buddy program, but I know that it would be September before I could participate. What date does the program actually begin?

Hi Marlin,

You can definitely start in September. You can fill out the form now and put that in the notes if you like, or wait till September. It is up to you!

What a great idea - Book Country partnerships.  I don't care about word for word editing.  Every author should attend to proofreading by himself or herself - or hire a professional. But I'd love to give and get a 2nd-opinion about which passages work and which do not. Not everyone can get away with writing tons of copy like Steven Erikson or Neal Stephenson. To get noticed at all in this buyer market, we have to narrow it down for fickle readers. I hope to find an author with the same attitude.

My buddy won't be available until October, but I am impressed with his work and happy to wait for him. I'm wondering, those who have started the program, how's it working for you?
