A Scottish character cropped up in one of my WIPs . I was delighted to find an odd little website that lets me listen to various accents and it has helped with writing the dialogue. The site - The Speech Accent Archive - features a large set of speech samples (audio files) of native and non-native
speakers of English all reading the same English text.

How interesting! I'll have to go check it out as I have a book where all the characters have a slight accent, but I can't figure out how to describe each one. (Each character is from a different locale so has a slightly different accent.)

You can also find individuals sharing their accents on youtube if you do a search for a specific accent, though in that case you have to sift through people practicing fake accents.

Any other site apart from youtube, I am writing about a community that believes in living outside the so called civilized circle i.e. the frontiers....how can we make them 'real' especially when these people are happy in their own world!
