Greetings!
Because I felt I was stagnating a bit and needed to get out some serious words quickly, a few other BookCountry people and I are going to do something that classifies as complete insanity:
We're going to write a short book in 7 days. 60,000 words, 7 days. There are no rules. The only thing that matters is that you get the words out.
We're starting June 20, 2011 At 12:01 AM -- I hope anyone that needs a little motivation to write might give this a try. Success isn't reaching 60,000 words, but making the effort to try.

Thanks to the advice you gave me on a project yesterday, I'll be starting a massive rewrite. I love having a goal in mind so lets get out the industrial sized coffee pots and get cracking.

You're right--that IS insanity. I might be able to join in, though I can't promise 60k. I have a 30k novella I could write...
It all depends on the timing. I think that's the week I have summer break from work. *running to check the calendar*

Like I said, there are no rules! All that matters is that you try  I really hope both of you end up doin' the challenge
I'll be writing a thriller, I think -- something to let me totally clear my thoughts and do something outside of my normal box. Should be a lot of fun.

It's not my vacation week, but I won't have major grading to do until the weekend, so I'll say I'm in. (My crit partners are gonna kill me).

I was thinking, for those on twitter, perhaps we should do a hashtag like 1week1novel, or 60in7Days? Or do we just want to use the #bookcountry hash tag?

The point of a hash tag is to make people who see it in your feed curious enough to look isnt it? I think 1week1novel would make people more curious because, seriously who the heck writes a novel in a week? BC1w1n doesn't spark any curiosity to me.

OK, yea, you have a really good point there -- we can always hastag Bookcountry with 1week1novel too That makes it simple -- I'll be tweeting to #1week1novel with my progress on my writing

OK, it's insane, but I really need to kick my @$$ into gear on at least one of the many projects I'm juggling. I'll finish the final round of edits on WNTF this weekend and be ready for the INSANITY on Monday. I'm thinking the next piece of Iron Angel, 'cause my publisher wants that one, but we'll see at 12:01.
Re - hashtags - I've always thought the *purpose* of hashtags on Twitter was to let groups have conversations. Essentially, hashtag + filter = 'room'. A descriptive one will garner good interest, but takes up character space. I'd go with 1WeekNovel myself. But I'm strange, everyone says so. Beside that, I'm not on Twitter much during the school year.
If we're looking to trend this, then we need a catchy hashtag, and it doesn't have to have anything to do with the purpose of the tag. A friend who used to sell balls of tape and other bits of 'office sculpture' on eBay always got good responses from Death Metal Pancakes.

I'll try, but I have no hopes of actually completing a novel in one week!!!
Will definitely follow and contribute to the hashtag stuff... Does it have to be a completely new project or can I use Silver Darkness?? (it's only got one chapter right now...)

Lisa: There are no rules, literally. Write what you want, how you want! Just try to get as many words out on the page as possible on one of your projects!

This task is crazy, but kudos on the effort. I will not be able to participate much next week, got a wedding on the weekend, a gig to support a friend at, school, work, next week is crazy already but however I will partcipate in a mini excusion this weekend to make up for not being able to join.

Weekends are booked from here till December and I have two hospital visits somewhere mid week (to check my son's heart) so really I am going to end up with about 4.5 days of writing. I still plan to try

I think the only one who truly "won" was Sharon T.Rose everyone else put forth great efforts though.
I have done this again, approximately once a month till recently. My newborn got big enough to try to control the keyboard so I can't really write that way for awhile. Once she is past the grab the keyboard and smash the keys phase I will probably resume doing this once a month, probably during the first or second week.
