Short Bio:

I grew up in post-war Coventry UK, studied medicine at Guy's Hospital, London and migrated to Australia in 1976. After living and working in Melbourne for ten years I decided to move to the country and have now been a rural general practitioner in the small town of Lancefield, central Victoria since 1986. It is a busy practice where we do lots of procedures and handle many accidents. It is a wonderful community and is crowded with great characters. I live just out of the town on a beautiful farm where we breed racehorses. In addition to writing I also love portrait painting and make sure that I submit a piece of work each year to the Archibald prize. I have eight grandchildren who visit the farm regularly and all of whose names I can remember.

About Paul Carter's Reading & Writing

I love books that explore people's relationships with themselves, for we all eventually have to come face to face with who we are - and that is either a peaceful experience or not. Tales of a country doctor is a series on interlinking short stories about a city doctor who moves to a small country town on a tree changing whim after his marriage becomes unravelled. The book is very much about relationships, both with ourselves and with others. Being medical stories, it is also about how the process of healing is a two way street. For whilst I was carefully looking after my patients - it becomes apparent that they were just as carefully looking after me My books are available through the Xlibris and Amazon websites in both hard backed, paper backed and e forms (and of course also leather bound if you feel so inclined).
