Short Bio:
Myra Hargrave McIlvain is a storyteller who began her career writing a family humor column for a regional newspaper. She has written Texas historical markers; articles for Texas and U.S. newspapers and magazines such as TEXAS Highways; and five books, three of which were published by the University of Texas Press.
After retiring from her historical travel business, McIlvain continues to delight audiences with her Texas lectures.
LEGACY, McIlvain’s first novel, is a coming-of-age story set in a coastal Texas town struggling through the last year of World War II.
McIlvain's award-winning STEIN HOUSE, paints a compelling family saga of German immigrants thrust into the bustling Texas seaport of Indianola between 1853 and the fierce 1886 hurricane that destroyed the town.
Whether she is telling stories in her books, her weekly blogs, or her lectures, McIlvain views history as the story of a people, and the people she knows best have made Texas their home.
