Take away my books and I'll sure come after you all guns blazing and with zero mercy.
Books are my haven, my cave in the wilderness, my weapon against all monsters.
I could pick any tome out of my collection and be assured to derive exactly the same amount of enjoyment out of it as the one standing next to it, for each has served a different, very specific purpose.
'The Pillars of the Earth' (by Ken Follett) for example, has shown me truly amazing examples of descriptive narrative, JKR Rowlings got me trapped at Hogwarts, where I learned witchcraft and wizardry, and Tolkien sent me meandering down Middle earth for years on end.
I may at some point have been in serious danger of losing touch with reality, but at the end of the day it didn't feel that great a price to pay.
This much I love my books.
