David W. Berner's first book, Accidental Lessons (Strategic) was awarded the 2009 Royal Dragonfly Grand Prize for Literature.
David was awarded the position of Writer-in-Residence at the Jack Kerouac Project in Orlando, Florida for the summer of 2011. And his new memoir – ANY ROAD WILL TAKE YOU THERE: A Journey of Fathers and Sons (Little BIG Man Press) – is a product of the three-months spent at Kerouac’s former home in Orlando.
David’s writing has appeared in publications and online journals such as Under the Gum Tree, Chicagoland Journal, PERIGEE, Tiny Lights Journal, Shaking Like a Mountain, The Sun Newspapers, and Write City Magazine. He has also performed for 2nd Story and Essay Fiesta and is an associate professor at Columbia College Chicago, teaching radio narrative, audio documentary, and writing.
And with all of this, David still finds time to play guitar and watch as much TV coverage as possible of his beloved Steelers.
