I majored in English in college because I read whatever I can get my hands on. If I start a book, no matter how bad it is, I have to finish it. Good books I enjoy, great books I devour - and often multiple times. I write mostly non-fiction for work (blogs, training manuals, lesson plans, etc).
I struggled through creative writing in college. Now, I realize that fiction writing is not about creating a story. It is about uncovering the story that already exists and hoping I don't wreck it too much in the process.
