I wrote a book. Here is an excerpt from the query letter I am using:
My protagonist, MICHAEL LEADBETTER, grew up dreaming of playing Major League Baseball, but despite being a star in college, and a winner, the pros brushed him off. Knowing he had little chance of overcoming the system, he gave up and took a job in New York. He worked hard and achieved success as a PR executive, but the dream never died. He knows, just knows, he could have made it to The Show. His best friend, TATER LEWIS, a lawyer and sports agent, senses a rare opportunity and pushes him to take one last bold shot at pro ball. At 35 it appears laughable, yet passion rarely yields to reason and he takes the plunge. It means turning his back on a successful career and comfortable life, but that’s the thing about dreams: he has to take the chance or face a lifetime of regret. It also lets him finally express his desire for his beautiful and supportive colleague, EMILY CALDWELL. Walking through one door opens others.
