I started taking my writing seriously in December 2004, when I joined SF-OWW. I was with this incredibly varied and useful community for four years, when I joined the Barflies at Baen's Bar. I won the Writers of the Future contest in 2010 and attended the workshop in LA in May 2011. As part of this workshop, we were required to write a short story in 24 hours. I edited the story on the plane home, and sent it to Analog, where it sold. "Survival in Shades of Orange" will be in the Nov 2012 issue. I've since sold them another story, which will appear in 2013.
A novella "The Shattered World Within" will appear in Giganotosaurus in Feb 2013.
I self-publish novels and pre-published shorter works, because it is a crapload of fun. I'm happy to talk about my experiences with self-publishing.
I write about space, which has a lot of Australians in it, and some kangaroos.
When I'm not writing, I play the flute and I play taxi for my three teenage children.
