Short Bio:

I write science fiction and fantasy novels and short fiction, have degrees in history and biology, am a veteran, and grew up on the Texas/Mexican border. I've been writing since childhood, but sold my first fiction in 1985. My most recent books: CROWN OF RENEWAL, 5th and final book of Paladin's Legacy, from Del Rey, released May 2014, and DEEDS OF HONOR, an independently published e-book of short fiction from Paksenarrion's world, released 12/22/14 Background to writing: swordplay, knitting, gardening, cooking, wildlife management/prairie restoration, horses, photography, music (performing and listening to) and most other things that don't involve housework or wearing heels.

I read widely--much of it out of the genre I write in--I'm a data hog and love to learn new things. Research is a constant temptation. We subscribe to several science journals, and I have the typical writerly houseful of books (and not enough bookshelves. NEVER enough bookshelves!) Recently purchased books: DEEP SURVIVAL by Laurence Gonzales, SALT, SWEAT, TEARS by Adam Rackley, THE GATHERING WIND by Gregory A. Freeman, RAISING STEAM by Terry Pratchett.
