I read a couple of published novels a week, always printed copies. I am getting to the point where I've already read most of what I'm interested in on the bookstore shelves (or recommended by Amazon). One thing I love is discovering new authors, so I joined this site. I like that Book Country members offer real critiques aimed at improving the posted works (as opposed to generic praise with little substance).
I am writing a novel; I may or may not post excerpts here. It's 160, 000 words right now and I'm on the seventh draft. (I'm getting close to sending it out.) I try to write about a half hour each weekday and an hour on weekends and holidays, so it's taken me a little over a year to get this far. I can definitely sympathize with people who have put in as much work as I have, and I admire those who have the courage to post here. So please, if I offer suggestions, know that I really think they would help make your work better! (I'm not out to hurt anyone's feelings.)
