As my personal Pied Piper, reading has taken me around the world and opened up other universes. "if you want to write, read, " they say, and I try to do both daily.
Writing has become the ultimate avatar experience, enabling me to experience situations beyond the realm of everyday possibilities. Early work as a greeting card writer was admittedly formulaic but introduced me to witty people who helped refine my craft. Between raising my family and working on grant proposals and business correspondence for nonprofit agencies, I have written poetry, some of which has been published in local anthologies and won an honorable mention from the Bay Area Poetry Coalition. Another poem, Scimitar Wind, recently won a prize in the international Cyclamens and Swords competition. I have completed four children’s books incorporating legends set in worldwide locations.
Mysteries are my current interest. With a novella and novel well underway, I am eager to sharpen skills and share with my peers.
