Nike is a late bloomer when it comes to her love of reading. She toted home comic books for years before I getting hooked on fantasy and science fiction. The first big girl book she purchased was "The Silver Chair, " by C.S. Lewis. She won second place in an art contest and the prize was a gift certificate to Martha Merrill's Book Store. Martha didn't carry comic books.
A taste for writing also came by accident while in college, thanks to a philosophy course and a paper that was due in thirty minutes. A couple years later, this interest was rekindled when I realized that the hours at work flew by while writing procedures for dull, office tasks. My boss complimented my work and soon after I wrote my first short story about Roland the Vampire.
My current WIPs are "The Sun Keeps Them" (historical urban fantasy) and another fantasy genre novel, title TBA.
