I'm a dedicated author/artist/filmmaker adapting to the format, the current, the flow of today's mindset: the genre novel as comfort food, the celebrity and self-help money makers. The novel has become formulaic, the industry, like that of music and movies, has turned corporate. With SAPI3N I'm attempting to forgo the norm (if you take away the money aspect - and who makes money as a writer? - can't cows be purple?) and write it the way I see it - scenes connected by an overarching storyline, but otherwise independent of each other. To my eye, this more closely follows the real world. Not only are we growing more and more fragmented, life itself is fragmented. You don't stay with a person as their life unfolds, you see only fragments, which you weave together into an illusory whole. --> hgrevemberg@gmail.com
