J.J. Kaypim first read Korean children's books with her mother, in Korean. Later on she started reading in English, writing her first story at the tender age of seven about a caterpillar named Sara who wanted to fly. J.J. Kaypim continued sneaking in reading and writing all throughout her academic life; expected to put school first, she found herself reading by nightlights and secretly writing stories about aliens during especially boring high school lectures. Her current novel has been a work-in-progress for the past six years, the universe created, character fleshed out, and plot embellished all in snatches in between finals and classes and during school breaks. Now technically an adult, J.J. Kaypim is expanding on this piece, along with several others, somehow never able to give up on this stolen joy.
