I read because I enjoy it but I've learned it also improve one's writing. Sagas, historical novels, biographies, short stories and poetry books all piled on my bedside table are a treat in store when I go to bed. I am an ardent Francophile and am lucky enough to have a house in the south west of France. It's a quiet place where my eyes feast on the scenery and my soul feeds on the peacefulness. I to and fro across the channel with my husband and labrador, several times a year. I love making things - craftwork you would call it. I paint on silk which is therapeutic, making scarves as gifts.Working with a group in France means I have to speak French which has of necessity improved over time!. I enjoy gardening which is a good job as our garden in France is quite large. I grow vegetables and fruit; our children think my tomatoes are the best they have ever eaten. We enjoy the sunshine, warmth and slower pace of life. All of this along with my life in England, contributes to my writing.
