I usually read several books at the same time - fiction and nonfiction. At any particular moment it is the book that I'm in the mindset to read.
Many years ago I was the founding president of the Los Angeles Chapter of Sisters in Crime. At that time I kept a record of every mystery I read with a female protagonist -- how was she portrayed (weak, strong, etc.).
I am especially interested in espionage novels because my husband and I were stationed with the U.S. Army in Munich, Germany, from September 1970 to May 1972. I eventually got a security clearance and worked for the 66th Military Intelligence Group.
When my novel MRS. LIEUTENANT (takes place the spring of 1970 right after the Kent State shootings) was selected as a 2008 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award semifinalist, I "fell" into social media marketing and have never looked back.
I am now paying particular attention to the explosion of ebooks because I know that ebooks will change the world as we know it.
