My writing reflects the strong culture of the new South, where traditions like moonshine and rugged independence meld with 21st-century technology and sophistication. There's also a healthy dose of military tradition, reflecting my own journey from growing up on military bases the world over to service as a USAF pilot. My works generally contain a blend of fact, history, a good story, great characters, a great villain, and a realistic hero.
As for reading, I am an eclectic. From suspense and mystery to military and science fiction. The occasional bit of historical fiction, biographies, tech manuals and cook books. I love strong characters pitted against long odds. I prefer happy endings -- or unhappy ones that make sense to the narrative. I despise pretention, excessive hand-wringing over moral dilemmas, and descriptions that stretch for page after agonizing page.
Like many writers, I am primarily a story teller, and enjoy listening to the stories other authors have to tell.
