I moved to Venice, California from London about four years ago. Soon after that a couple of my neighbors (both very accomplished producers) persuaded me to start writing about my life here. This is a story about interconnected lives of a few close friends. As we discuss our backgrounds, I reference London where I lived for 13 years and Yugoslavia where I grew up. Although these are all very different places, certain unexpected patterns and unlikely clues emerge.
This is a story Huckleberry Finn and Pippi Long Stockings would write if they could grow up and move to LA to meet a very interesting and diverse group of friends. They too would try to expose inconsistencies and challenge myths and socio-economic status quo within its various cliques (mythical Hollywood ‘gay mafia’ being one of them).
The book is mostly about being brave to experiment in life. It’s also about having even more courage to admit one’s own mistakes.
