I have four completed mss and a project in progress. The book I think could sell first is "The Pearl Singer." It's a retelling of Thumbelina in a different world, a la Gail Carson Levine's "Ella Enchanted" and "Fairest." My friend Jane Yolen says it's the most original of the three works I've shown her, and that "there is a great hunger in the market for fairy tale redactions, " but I have yet to find an agent for it. I've been writing traditional fantasy since 1969, with hiatuses for school and family. I read traditional fantasy and try to read at least some of what my children read. I'm a serious recreational beader.
