When young, I would spend Sunday afternoons devouring Agatha Christies, Ruth Rendall's, Martha Grimes. Sometimes I still do. I love to write. I love the plotting, the formation of characters, the dialogue. Perhaps because a good mystery requires all of those, this is my preferred genre.
After completing my first novel, A Match for Murder, I began my second book. This one is easier to write because I'd learned so much through trial and error in writing my first. For example, I now know to consider the whole book as one document. In the beginning, I'd put each chapter in a different folder. I also got confused about what my characters, scenes, etc. looked like and found by keeping an outline, my story remained consistant.
I did workshop my book with a writing group which proved to be invaluable. However, after almost three years, the group disbanded. It's not likely another group will form in this rural town and I'm hopeful this website will fill that gap.
