Most of my writing has been legal writing. Even my writing outside of briefs and pleadings deals with the legal system and its effect on the emotional life of those affected by it. In particular I am interested in the ways in which individuals can become empowered by the legal system, or diminished by it. I’m interested primarily in reading non-fiction that pertains in any way to power and the abuses of power. As such I am fascinated with the concept of whistleblowing, political corruption, the psychology of evil, healing from trauma, including war, and the behavior of people in groups, as described by Dr. Philip Zimbarado in his book “The Stanford Prison Experiment”. I enjoy true crime, historical/sociological books, memoirs, and books about the craft of writing. Although I have increasing differences politically with much of its contents, I especially enjoy the literary magazine, The Sun, and have contributed to it.
