When I was eight I came across a manual typewriter at a friend’s house and became infatuated. The desire to fill a blank page and see where the keys would take me next wouldn't let go. As an adult I wrote thirteen novels, but after finding no traction in publishing I quit, vowing never to write creatively again. Never is a long time, and my hiatus ended after ten years when I decided to write something just for my own enjoyment and to aid my thirteen-year-old daughter who struggled with dyslexia. Sarah’s condition made it difficult to read in manuscript form so she asked for a "real" book, bound and formatted. So began my second adventure into publishing. I sold more than seventy thousand books as a self-published author and recently signed with Orbit (the fantasy imprint of Hachette Book Group) who will re-publish my six-book Riyria Revelations as a trilogy spread across three months (Nov 2011 – Jan 2012).
