I am currently revising a second draft of my Young Adult WIP. It's about 65, 000 words, with a working title of The Dumb Nerd. I will probably be looking for beta readers for that in about a month or so. It's actually my second full-length manuscript; the first has been consigned to a drawer. I hope I have learned from the mistakes I made on that one!
I'm an active member of the Backspace - an online writing group I highly recommend. I'd like to join an in-person critique group in NYC, so if anyone knows of a group open to new members, please let me know.
In addition to longer projects, I love writing short stories. One of my stories, "Outside Help" was published in the Summer 2010 edition of the Grey Sparrow Literary Journal.
I read a lot of different things, but especially: general fiction, YA, non fictional accounts of current events, and travel writing. I usually don't like writers who are too heavy on descriptions - give me good dialog or a few telling details instead!
