I've enjoyed reading from a young age, with Sci Fi books like The Tripod Trilogy and Dune being some of the first works to really catch my attention. Since then I have always been an avid reader of all genres, staying up late into the night just to find out how the hero would foil another evil plot, even if that plot is nothing more than to prevent a love or or change a score.
Writing, unlike reading, hadn't been something I considered one of life's great pleasures: it was a tool to get from A to B, like a daily commute instead of a leisurely road trip. It wasn't until recently, when I had a story that had to be told, did I realize I could find as much joy in crafting a story as I did in reading one.
