Wrote extensively about golf for magazines. Started a reading group in 1970-71 devoted to reading the major novelists, those we would not read on our own: Proust, Tolstoy, Dickens, Austin, Eliot, Faulkner, Mann, Camus, Hardy, Balzac, Dostoevsky, Kafka, etc., etc. After retirement began long, disorganized novel about golf and old age. Then cut part of it out to make a shortish novel.
