These are the main things that draw me to a story: creativity and subtlety. Never underestimate the power of reading between the lines; and not just in books. I could go overboard analyzing movies and television shows, too. I also always admire the ability to invent an entire world; complete with a culture, history, and sometimes language; totally from scratch--for example, Lord of the Rings; the Harry Potter series; the Nightrunner series. I'm also a sucker for military tactics and political intrigue.
I've wanted to be a writer since I was a little girl, and I have always been a daydreamer. To me, stories can come from absolutely anywhere. I could be eating a salad, find that one of the tomatoes kind of reminds me of a carriage's wheel, and then think, "I should write something about a traveling merchant that sells demonic vegetable seeds to unsuspecting townsfolk." I love writing fantasy more than anything, and I like my characters to be just a little quirky.
