Nothing like a well-written mystery. No matter how much I'd like to wade through the classics again, or get through that earnest piece of non-fiction, I truly enjoy myself when a storyteller takes center stage on the page and makes me lose myself in someone else's point of view.
It's so incredibly important that we understand each other, and storytelling holds up that mirror like nothing else does. We define ourselves with our stories - both the stories we tell ourselves, and the stories we tell others about ourselves.
At the moment I'm enjoying memoir and creative non-fiction. I also have 12 feet of bookshelves devoted to spiritual and esoteric texts, particularly about spiritual healing.
It's a challenge to be a writer, and I'm grateful for all the new media which allows us to communicate instantly through blogging, Facebook, twitter and forums.
