While my writing tends to skew towards the literary, I am always looking for ways for genre fiction and literary fiction to collide, resulting in writing that breaks down myths and stereotypes about the categories we place on literature.
Much of my writing is inspired by folklore and fairy tales (esp. those of Japan, Native American tribes, and Eastern Europe). I have an affinity for apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic worlds and the kind of weirdness and magic that can shed light on the human condition in ways that would be difficult (or less striking) with straight realist fiction.
