I read widely including genre fiction (mainly SF and mysteries), literary fiction, history, biography, general nonfiction, poetry and rarely memoirs. I just read Reynolds Price's memoir of his years at Oxford and enjoyed it immensely. Right now I am also reading Francine Prose's new novel as well as one by Meg Wolitzer. I am reading more women right now because I am trying to write a main character who is a woman. In nonfiction, I am reading The 4% Universe by Richard Panek and The Flight of the Intellectuals by Paul Berman. I usually have at least a half dozen books going at the same time. I write one story at a time , however. I started Thomas Perry's new Butcher Boy novel this morning.
