My books are mystery/thrillers that, I hope, touch on some deeper issues.
The work-in-progress, for example, Patriot Acts (http://patriotacts-thebook.com), throws an "innocent" into the investigation of the death of a Cabinet nominee, and forces him to consider -- and reconsider -- what it means to be an American.
That said, my aim (without apology), is to write airplane books: Fast reads, the kind of novel that someone can pick up in a NYC airport and finish by the time the plane lands in LA. Short chapters, short paragraphs, a lot of dialogue.
The screenplays are all over the place. Black Star Rising is an award-winning biopic of the leading African-American politician of her time, Barbara Jordan. The latest, Killing Time, is a thriller about the quest for immortality. Another, the Second Coming of Peter Paul, is a twisted political satire -- Wag the Dog meets Weekend at Bernie's (seriously).
I'm a fan of mystery/thriller writers, and would love to be Don Winslow when I grow up.
