I strive to be eclectic, especially in my reading choices. For me, the voice, the characters, and the story draw me into a novel, not the genre.
My writing has a more narrow focus: upper middle grade fantasy. I hope early teens can escape from everyday life into the story worlds I have created, just as when I was in middle school to junior high, my favorite authors let me overcome impossible situations and travel through extraordinary environments that seemed as real as the world I lived in.
I love to critique and to edit—so much that sometimes I have to remind myself to stop reading wonderful stories created by others and to get back to my own work. I attend a critique group that meets bi-weekly, and I also have several online critique partners. I am excited about becoming involved with Book Country. I can’t wait to network with other writers and to help each other along the writing journey!
