This is my first novel. My fiction writing is usually female-driven with an intent for African American audiences. I do not write street lit, instead, I like to think of my writing as reminiscent of the old Harlem Renaissance era. I write for an affluent audience about real issues that are as old as the heritage that I center. I am a culture journalist for the Huffington Post where I covered the Obama campaign in 2008. I also regularly contribute to Soul Train as a staff writer. In addition, I write a regular fashion column that appears biweekly in Black Star News in Harlem. My first book, Rowan Off the Record was published last year by College Prowler, and I am currently working on a YA series of novels based on my experiences singing in the youth choir at the church where I was raised.
