Currently reading "The Mystery of the Yellow Room" by Gaston Leroux. Revising 2nd draft of my 1930's detective novel "Death in Dolly Blue" and attempting to finish playscript for The Bruntwood Prize. Have just entered three short story competitions, all open themes as I'm not too keen on set ones.
Have small editing/critique business helping others avoid the mistakes I've made (including a few howlers, if I'm honest.) Cannot write poetry, though I love reading it, especially the Romantics and Seamus Heaney.
Am interested in how writers put their words together - a sort of ethnomethodology of writing structure to obtain certain (sometimes unintentional) effects.
