About Nicholas Kotar's Reading & Writing

I've been raised on the classics (both English and Russian). I'm a sucker for C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, and Gene Wolfe. I have always been fascinated by a good fairy story (as defined by Tolkien in his incredible essay "On Fairy Stories"), and I have grown up steeped in Russian folklore, which is why its keeps popping up in my writing. Russia's fantastical settings and characters are an endless source of surprise and inspiration.
