My reading tastes are eclectic: fiction, non-fiction, newspapers (print and online) and national magazines. My first serious writing was in college, where I took the infamous "Daily Themes" course which required five short stories a week for a semester. Drove me crazy, but I was hooked. Unfortunately, the need to eat, have a roof over my head (ditto for my family), send kids to college (where they both took Daily Themes) and develop a practice didn't leave much time or energy to write. That was my excuse, anyway. All of that had its fortunate side: several booksfull of characters (clients, other lawyers, judges, and assorted walk-ons), at least in my head. I hesitate to admit when I started the novel I'm about ready to put out there; suffice it to say many years. I hope the result will justify the long delay, maybe by a greater understanding of human nature now than when I started.
I've been on the board of a small theater company, and dabbled on the fringes of local politics.
