I like it when a book takes something long accepted and says, "NO! Hang on, it doesn't have to be that!" I'm intrigued by the idea that there are ideas out there that we take for granted, that we don't question, and think it is extremely powerful when a writer can not only bring their reader into their world, but bring them so deeply in that they begin to question the social constructs in the real world. I'm currently working on a mythic/historical/traditional fantasy story, and will hopefully be sharing some short fiction (old and new) as I get more comfortable with this site.
I am quite fascinated with different concepts of gods and religion, and they often tend to work their way into my stories.
