I read across all genres, to me a good story is a good story, and I don't care what label it comes with. My tastes are eclectic, and the list of my preferred genres just skims the surface (I didn't think it'd be a good idea to click on almost everything!).
I write post-apocalyptic adventure stories, set in a dystopia I've been building in my head since my college days 20 years ago. I decided to gather all my notes together and try to make something of them for Nanowrimo in 2007. I managed to meet the 50k target, but didn't have a finished story. Over the past few Novembers I've been working out ideas for other stories in the same world.
I still haven't managed to come up with one that I like enough to merit putting a tentative foot on the patch towards publishing. I'm hoping that Book Country will help me to identify problem areas so that I can work on them and produce something I'm proud of that others might enjoy reading.
