What is the Genre Map?
We want it to be fun and easy for you to find something you’re interested in reading. So the Book Country team created a unique, new tool—the Genre Map—to help you do just that.
When describing a new book editors, industry insiders, and avid readers often reference a known book as a shorthand way of describing the new book (e.g. “It’s like Nora Roberts’s Vision in White but a little sexier.”) We’ve taken this shorthand and turned it into a fun and very visual way to browse and discover new fiction. Our unique algorithm will place each member-uploaded book on the map—based on its genre, primary tone, and secondary tone—in relation to well-known published works from across the industry.
With 42 subgenres and eight tones to guide you, we’re confident that you’ll find a book you’re interested in.
The Genre Map is also a great tool for writers to learn how to categorize their books effectively and accurately. When writing a review of a book on Book Country, please be sure to give feedback on whether you feel the author has accurately categorized his or her book.
